The legendary 1970 Mach 1 Mustang!

Largely considered to be the last of the good ones the 1970 Mach 1 has earned the right to be called iconic, and has rightly so earned its place as an undeniably significant model in the history of Americas legendary Muscle cars.

This 70 Mach 1 is a genuine M code 4v car with the first of the big Cleveland D Block V8 engines fitted from factory, an engine that powered Mustangs proudly until the fuel crisis of the mid seventies when things went downhill...and downhill badly, as by 1974 the introduction of the V6 engine marked the biggest engine available for the Mustang...

These Mach 1s mark the end of an era really, and as such have become increasingly collectable as time goes on, and as a consequence they are not that easy to find anymore and are also fetching big money Stateside, so we probably wont see many more being imported to our shores, as you couldnt land a comparable car here today and have it on the road for this sort of money...

This example has survived to tell the story and has been here in NZ with the one owner since 1988!

The body on this example presents well over all with decent lines and the paintwork is very nice in the traditional Candy Apple Red with the satin black outs. This example also has the optional sports slats and front and rear spoiler which really set these cars off.

The interior is the Deluxe version and is finished in the refreshing bone white basket weave with the wood grain accents, all coming together to make the over all appearance package really stand out.

The 351 ci engine seems very happy and responsive having come to us from a decent long road trip where it performed flawlessly, while the automatic transmission shifts nicely through the nine inch diff, and this example has factory power steering and disc brakes making it a real pleasure to drive with decent manners.

Old school Cragar chrome wheels and wide tires give that 80s Muscle Car flavour to this staunch old Mach 1 and over all the presentation is very nice for and older restored example.

Recently released from long term ownership in a good dry climate this Mach 1 is ready to go to a new home, so if you have been looking for a tidy example of the iconic Mach 1, in one of the hero colours then you may have just found it!
