This cool old school Pick up represents a lot of Hot Rod for a very modest amount of money more recent builds have more invested in paintwork alone than the asking price of this old girl!
Built 30+ years ago buy a guy with a dream who started collecting parts from swap meets and putting it all together in his back garage, remember those days? long before hot rodding became the big dollar very serious business it is today, with Low Volume certification and all of the associated headaches. well this truck is from that period, so its certainly not an open cheque book build nor was it ever intended to be, it was built on a budget and built to have fun and to be driven and used just as Henry originally intended.
Starting with an old cab and chassis, a little Windsor 302 and c4 was sourced and fitted between the rails, along with the traditional HT Holden style independent front end and steering box, with P76 discs and Holden callipers up front, while an XA Falcon diff suspended in valiant rear springs took care of the rear end ,while also giving it Ford stud pattern all around.
Once the chassis was sorted the body had a later style full steel floor fitted along with a new fire wall, and a new steel tray folded up to give this old Ford the correct look with the flowing rear guards, pressed Ford Logo and spare wheel mounted on the side.
Once this work was completed a coat of Bright Red dulon was applied, again in the old back garage, and some new glass a couple of jap buckets as was the norm back then, and she was all set to go! and going it has been, as a trusted work horse for its original builder for the last 35 years!
It was always the intention to finish the interior off and a few other bits, but it just never happened as it was too busy being driven and enjoyed so it was one of those on the list jobs as often happens.
Originally registered on the road in 1990 and put on the old style Land Transport Declaration in 1992, this old truck has never been off the road since it was built so has never been certified under the new LVVTA system, it would no doubt require changes now to meet the new system, if you wanted to go down that road, which is clearly reflected in the price.
Make no mistake this cool old truck is just that, it present pretty well, but its not a show pony, and eventually it may require cert, but either way an opportunity exists here to own a running driving complete almost 90 year old steel RHD Pick Up that you could add some serious value to by taking her to the next level, or simply drive it and enjoy it as it is, put it this way it would look a lot cooler carting junk to the dump than any new Ford Ranger!
Please be aware we are marketing this truck as a Project vehicle and it is priced accordingly, it is currently registered and warranted, however it may well require certification in the future, and any modifications from the declaration would require cert. Unfortunately as there is little to no consistency in the warrant inspection system, this vehicle may or may not pass its next warrant of fitness as it sits today, and will be sold with a disclaimer as such. If these terms are not acceptable or agreed upon, then this is not the truck for you.
A few minor bumps and bruises, but a ton of charm and character, and you can use it without fear of getting more chips or dings at the car park, and there is a lot to be said for that..
