It is our pleasure to bring to the market one of Christchurchs most iconic Hot Rods. This well-travelled well respected multi award winning Panelvan has been the absolute passion project of a proper old school panel beater built as his own toy, and has served him and the family very well while also having no problems filling the trophy cabinet along the journey!
It all started by accident really when our man originally spotted this big Chevy while roaming around the legendary Pomona Swap meet a few years back, (its pretty hard to miss!) a deal was done and this cool big Panno was shipped home to NZ, and the incredible ground up build began.
The large body was in good solid order so was completely stripped bare to allow panel work and alignment to be carried out to a standard far superior to the original quality of the day, and while at it a number of tricky yet discrete modifications were completed to personalise the van even further, including shaved handles with remote poppers and many other little mods and a RHD conversion. Once countless man hours, certainly more than anyone wants to remember.. had been invested in the body and mild custom work, the stunning Solid Red 2K paint work was applied, and you would have to agree that it suits the big lines of this beast to perfection.
The original chassis has been extensively modified to include a 70s Camaro front clip giving both power steering and power disc brakes and more importantly a lovely smooth ride.
Nestled between the chassis rails is a very nice highly detailed rebuilt 350 small block with some very trick accessories, absolutely dripping in chrome and including a full vintage air A/C system. The impressive engine is coupled up to a TH350 transmission which is shift kitted and running back into the trusty 10 Bolt diff.
The interior is an absolute work of art, starting at the front the custom dash is complemented by a full set of Dolphin white face gauges to monitor the goings on , and custom seating includes high back buckets up front with a custom console, which houses a reversing camera and high quality multi-function head unit and monitor.
With family and large road trips in mind, a set of custom fold up and away seats where modified to fit, and these easily fold away so the beautiful exposed varnished timber floor can be utilised. In line with the family road trip theme, a decent size monitor TV unit is tucked up into the roof to be folded down to watch movies and keep the kids happy!
This magnificent build has to be seen to be fully appreciated, the ride and drive quality is incredible for such a large commercial vehicle, and overall it is simply a very nice well sorted cruiser that has proved itself to be reliable and show worthy at many out of town events.
