How is this for a genuine old survivor!

This delightful old 64 Chevrolet Impala is a rare NZ new example, so of course is a very desirable genuine RHD car! and this old darling has been in the has been in the same family for almost 60 years!

Sold and delivered new in Timaru by Hervey Motors the big GM dealers on the 14th October 1964 this impressive old Impala stayed with her first owner until 1967 when she arrived back at Herveys to be spotted by a Mr McKeown who drove in in his NZ new 63 Bel Air, handing over the keys and the princely change over sum of 675 pounds, before proudly driving out in his flash near new 64 Impala! A car which would go on to become a treasured and much loved family air loom.

It would be fair to say this old darling has had a pretty good life over the decades, with one of the more recent family owners being an engineer who clearly treated her pretty well.
Im more recent years its then rather mature owner managed to touch parked her a little more than he would have liked too, so has taken a bit of bark off around the edges, and bumped the trim and mouldings, but its all part of the charm, and she still stands proud with a lot of its original well-worn through pale blue paint shining proudly like it would have done back in the day.

Coming from decades on a dry South Canterbury farm, the honest dry old body is in remarkable order, and the interior (complete with original dealer supplier sticker still on the dash) presents in its original brocade trim and loop pile carpets, all a little well-worn and showing their age as you would expect, but just right if you love genuine patina from a clearly well treated car thats earned it keep.

The bullet proof old small block residing in the engine bay still seems very happy in its work, and coupled up to a nice smooth Power Glide this old Chevy is a real pleasure to drive with a nice easy feel of a decent old cruiser.

A beautiful old survivor from a far simpler time, a time when you could hook up your big family car and tow your boat and Your Caravan away on your Xmas holidays! both at the same time! (See photos) and even today this is still a neat old car that you would be happy to travel anywhere in.

Original invoices registration documents and service books are retained with this lovely old car, and tell a story of its interesting history from a time when someone would have worked very hard to buy a car like this, and treated it with respect getting a lot of faithful use in return.

You would be hard pressed to find a more honest one of these Impalas anywhere today, and its becoming increasing hard to find one that has survived being air bagged and tunnel rammed
