This neat old Notchback is a real cool early survivor!

Decoding the original Dearborn build tag, it can be confirmed that this example of the Iconic first generation Notchback is a very early example built in the first year of production on the 18th of May, making this car is one of the earliest examples in the country, being built roughly four weeks after the original release of the now Iconic Mustang! while making ever rarer still is that it was optioned new with the legendary 289ci D-Code 4 barrel HP V8 engine! Coupled up the Cruise -O Matic Automatic transmission.

A pretty honest maintained yet unrestored example of the breed this neat old Mustang has reluctantly just been released from its long term lady ownership here in Canterbury, where it was basically a daily driven classic.

The body seems straight and tidy with older but still quite presentable paintwork finished in the classic Wimbledon White, further complemented by a deep black interior, with the optional centre console.

The sweet running engine still retains its original unique one year only generator charging system, and the engine bay itself displays the unique fittings and fixtures associated with the very early production cars, including the correct radiator support, horn placement and headlamp bezels.

A real pleasure to drive this neat old Mustang has very decent road manners which are made all the better having the factory power assisted steering system for ease of use around town.

Decent presentable chrome and trim complements the over all appearance of this clean old Mustang and although not a immaculate restored example it still holds it head up high, and wont break your heart if it gets another stone chip!

A very difficult car to find today with largely unmolested early cars being scarce, and First generation Notchbacks in general being quite expensive in the US today, while the costs of importing compliance and registration making it simply uneconomical..
