This absolutely magnificent replica Shelby GT500 was built and restored professionally in the USA, with its recorded photographic history file showing that it started out as a particularly nice and very original back to bare metal 68 Fastback as the base car for the quite authentic transformation into the legendary and now iconic Shelby model you see before you.
The body on this example would be one of the nicest we have seen of this vintage and testament to how good of a car it was is that it has been on the road here in NZ for almost 20 years with the one original importer/owner and still retains its sparkling paintwork from its original restoration with no bubbles lumps or breakouts evident anywhere.
The paintwork is finished in a magnificent custom mix of Night mist Blue pearl, and is spectacular in the flesh with only a few tiny little chips from being used and enjoyed over the years as you would expect.
Powering this staunch looking Shelby and sitting proudly in the heavily detailed engine bay is a strong and recently refreshed 4V 351 Windsor topped with Edelbrock RPM alloy heads and manifold, which as anyone who has ever driven these cars would agree gives a nice power to weight ratio and offers more than enough performance while still retaining a decent handling package by comparison to the weighty big block engine.
The lively and heavily detailed engine is coupled up to a Tremec 5 Speed manual with a Hurst shifter, with a decent high performance centre force clutch which all comes together to get the power to the ground through the trusty nine inch LSD.
The neat package is a pleasure to drive with power steering and power disc brakes giving very nice feedback and road manners, and over all the driving experience is one you wont forget in a hurry!
A beautiful black interior with desirable Deluxe appointments and a Shelby style wood rim wheel and Hurst Shifter, is a great place to sit back and take in the whole experience, and you instantly feel like you are driving a very special part of Automotive history, and a gorgeous tribute to the man himself.
