The Iconic and legendary XY GT Falcon! One of the most replicated cars in history, and with the incredible look and presence they have, you can easily understand why!
This absolutely stunning XY GT replica started life as a NZ assembled car which was originally sold out of Lucas Bros Ltd In Blenheim, being delivered brand new on the 8/07/71 and this lovely old survivor Falcon spent a large majority of its life in the warm dry region with one owner until quite recently, which would explain why the body has never had any major surgery, and why this example has what are probably some of the best underbody areas we have ever seen on a seventies Falcon, with no evidence of patch panels or previous repair.
The body really is in amazing over all original condition, and in the recent build the original paintwork was stripped back and clearly some considerable time was spent lining up panels and generally going over what was clearly a very good unmolested old car, as this example has a really nice tight feel on the road, that these cars only ever seem to have if they have had a good life.
The choice was made early in the build to paint this replica in one of the most striking colours for the model being the bright and bold Surfer Orange, and with the correct style Satin Black accents, this GT replica really does look the part.
The virtually all new interior has recently been completed by the well-respected Tinwald Canvas Ltd, with correct bucket seats and reproduction door trims and full new carpeting bringing the interior up to spec, further complemented by a new correct style GT centre console, full GT dash, GT steering wheel and dash padding, all giving the cabin a period correct and luxurious GT style throughout.
The nicely detailed engine bay is home to a very sweet running 351 Cleveland in 4v tune topped off with the Iconic alloy Shaker functional hood scoop, with some nice attention to detail to replicate the GTs engine compartment and give it a period appearance.
The 351 is hooked up to a nice shifting Automatic transmission, and to be fair it really makes a car out of this XY, as this is a very pleasant capable old cruiser with plenty of low down Cleveland grunt if called upon, but is simply a nice easy to live with and great driving classic period Muscle Car that anyone could pilot quite confidently.
This GT replica has basically had the full Rare Spares catalogue utilised in this build at some great expense, with all new GT fixtures and fitting having been purchased and fitted to make the car look reasonably authentic, and certainly more authentic looking than a lot of replicas out there.
This smart looking XY GT replica is being offered well below its recent build cost, and represents a lot of car for the money for the serious amount of time and resources that have been invested, while being one of the most honest solid and original cars to begin with, which always makes a difference.
A real head turner that you would be more than proud to show off at local car events, but also one thats not so precious or valuable that you cant use and actually enjoy it.
A V8 car for a number of years this Ford was on an old style declaration, but will now be sold with full LVVTA certification for peace of mind moving forward.
