Once quite a common sight on NZ roads, not many of these little guys survive today to tell the story, and even less in this sort of condition!

This stunning little factory New Zealand new 1300 GT was sold and delivered new out of Timaru in March 1974, and according to the original ownership papers which are retained, spent a large portion of its life in the area before ending up in CH CH, so always a desirable South Island car.

A very honest clean little survivor this example has had one very nice full exterior repaint in the not to distant past, and is finished in the original and quite rare Tawny colour, which is a really nice deep metallic gold.

The interior tells the story of the life this Escort GT has enjoyed over the decades with lovely original trim and all of the correct GT fittings still present including the lovely six clock Rally inspired dash layout, wood grain accents and original steering wheel.

The body and panel fitment on this example is very nice and it doesnt appear to show any evidence of previous damage with all original paint in the engine bay, door shut areas and boot compartment confirming its repaint would have been due to the usual age related fading and wear of the old 70s metallics.

The exterior trim and brightwork is all original and in exceptionally good order for its age, and a nice set of 13 inch Rostyle sports road wheels have been fitted to give a neat tidy appearance and also make this example drive a bit better than it would have originally. A neat and very usable classic with an enviable pedigree being directly related to the worlds most famous rally cars of the seventies, and it doesnt hurt that it has a Ford Badge either making it a prized collectable usable investment that wont break the bank, and will still put a smile on your face by driving really, well even by todays standards all things considered.

If you like cars that dont attract attention then this probably isnt the car for you, everywhere you go in this little Escort you get a thumbs up or a I had one of those back in the day a true motoring icon and a true piece of Kiwiana.
