The ultimate in opulence and luxury out of Australia in the mid-70s this glorious big land yacht would have made a very impressive statement in her day, and was marketed by Ford as the vehicle your brought yourself when you had made it!
And made it you certainly had, this thing was the price of a small dwelling in 1975, and was probably better appointed!
From its longer than long wheelbase to the outrageous amount of carpet and woodgrain throughout the impressive interior, this big beautiful beast was all luxury.
To move all of this real estate along in absolutely luxurious style, the running gear was basically the same as you would find in the Falcon GT of the period, with the big powerful 351 Clevland in 4v form hooked up to the FMX Automatic transmission and sending the power to the road was a nine inch 4 wheel disc brake rear end, just like the mighty XB GT!
This particular stunning and very rare Ivy Green Metallic example was sold here in NZ brand new and was delivered from Napier Motors on the 10/06/1975.
This lovely original LTD is one of the few lucky examples that has survived the decades and one that has clearly been treated with absolute respect throughout its life, which is evident by its over all condition today.
The straight clean body work is in remarkable order with historical receipts for what was obviously a decent quality repaint at some point in the past, as the exterior presents like a car that is only a few years old, not 50!
The very tidy original interior in this big Limo is a pretty cool place to just sit back and enjoy the ride in period luxury, and is one area where Ford really captured the high end luxury aspect of these cars, with deep buttoned upholstery plenty of woodgrain and heater controls that looked like they came straight out of a space ship!
Loaded with fruit straight out of the box, tinted power windows, integrated A/C was all standard equipment for the top of the line LTD.
This impressive LTD is a real survivor , not many of these P5s survive today largely due to the fact that at one point the running gear was more valuable than the car itself, so a lot of these cars gave up their desirable running gear for lesser models, or succumbed to rust and simply rotted way as they had little to no real value in the nineties.
This gorgeous old LTD has recently been released from very long term Otago ownership, and comes with its original ownership papers, hand books and an impressive records file including around 20 years of warrant clean sheets!
Genuine low ownership and low milage all add to the charm of this magnificent big Ford.
Still an impressive drive, long comfortable road trips are no issue for this big girl, even by todays standards this is still a luxury ride that will impress a genuine buyer for a lovely genuine old car.
