When did you last see an HQ Ute in this condition??

A magnificent survivor, this genuine HQ Ute has somehow survived the last 50+ years without being butchered beaten to death or left rusting away to nothing!

These old Utes generally got a much harder time than the Sedans or Wagons because they were brought to work, and work hard, and most did just that while dissolving years ago, but this one which is believed to have been sold new in Canterbury is an entirely diffent story.

The history of this Ute as told by its restorer is that it was the Local rural GM dealers workshop Ute for many years before being retired and subsequently brought by a local farmer who shoved it into a nice dry shed for a few decades to get around to it one day before it was discover and lovingly restored by a genuine old-school tradesman panel beater and painter as a personal side project for the shop when things got a bit quiet as is often the case that didnt happen.. so after a few years of tripping over it, and now with a bit more time on his hands it was decided to get onto it, and well, the results speak for themselves!

A lovely example refinished in its original Kashmire White with complementing grey interior, and it looks absolutely stunning!

The engine bay was cleaned up in the build but sympathetically retains the original paint on the firewall along with the original stickers confirming how good and honest this old girl was at the start of the project.

The legendary 202 ci Red Six is very happy in its work pulling along strongly coupled to a nice three speed on the column, just how they were, complete with bench seat and manual steering , a proper no nonsense old school work horse Ute!

A lot of time has clearly gone into the build with a lot of thoughtful detail including the correct colours being applied to the refinished dashboard and steering wheel, some new glass fitted , full new rubbers throughout and a correct style Rope and Eyelet Tonneau cover of the period correct style.

Complemented further with either highly polished stainless trim and fittings, along with new chrome bumpers and a very cool set of retro period style Rostyle alloys and decent rubber this old Ute is guaranteed to put a smile on the face of anyone with half an interest in neat old Kiwiana Classics.

Clearly this was more of a passion project than a money maker, as a build to this standard today in a retail environment would cost well over twice the asking price, if not more, while the general detail of this neat old Ute shows a true craft mans hands at work.
