A far cry from the height of High Performance Zs of the seventies, these last of the second generation cars where far more refined cruisers absolutely loaded with plenty of creature comforts making them very easy to live with on a daily basis, as well as being great open road tourers.
This Very original Z28 would be a rare car even in the USA today as most got butchered or modified early on with very few of them coming to our shores.
Built in the Van Nuys California plant and Sold and delivered new from Camino Real Chevrolet in California, the options list on this example is quite impressive.
This lovely old Camaro has been here in NZ since it was four years old and would have made quite the statement on the roads here back in 1985.
According to the original old ownership papers which are retained along with the original black licence plates this old Camaro has lived a very decent life which is why it still presents the way it does today.
The interesting paperwork accompanying this example includes the almost impossible to find original 45 year old paper GM build sheet! and the old NZ Land Transport LHD permit from back in the day.
The body has been professionally rust proofed from new, and there is no obvious evidence of past major body damage or previous repairs apart from the odd touch ups around the edges as would be expected at 40 plus years of age.
The original Oyster white interior is very tidy and complete and appears to be largely original in its presentation.
The small block LG4 4 Barrel tuned V8 engine performs very well with the addition of an aftermarket alloy manifold, Holly carb and extractors, coupled to a very smooth shifting auto on into the LSD diff with the F41 optioned Z28 performance handling package including factory front and rear sway bays.
Certainly a striking looking car with the front and rear spoilers, Air Induction Hood, Trans Am inspired wheel farings, functional side scoops, and colour coded alloys, this old Camaro really makes a statement and certainly turns heads!
A lot of car for the money compared to most Muscle Cars of this era, and these cars in good order really are an absolute pleasure to drive.
