A lovely old NZ new survivor example of one of Fords Flagship High Spec models from the eighties, the top of the line luxury Cortina Ghia model, and this is one of the now rare 2.3 V6 examples!
These cars were pretty upper class in their day, the 2.3 V6 engine was super smooth, and felt like it genuinely offered quite a bit more power than the 2.0 OHC models, these up spec cars also benefited from factory power steering which back in 1983 was a big deal! If you had one of these expensive cars brand new, you were really making a statement!
This high spec Ghia is also finished in a very nice and quite rare colour, which is quite refreshing as most examples were usually finished in either Gold Bronze or Silver, so it would have no doubt stood out on the showroom floor in its light Sapphire Blue metallic with contrasting Camel cloth trim, catching the eye of an astute buyer back in the day.
Sold and delivered new by Geraldine Ford Dealers North End Ford in rural South Canterbury, this Cortina has clearly enjoyed a cherished exitance over the decades, and has only recently been released from a private collection of fine English Fords, to be presented to the market today.
The body presents really well with no signs of previous trauma, and the paintwork is in very decent condition having probably had some refurbishment in the past, while the immaculate interior confirms long term well respected ownership history.
The overall driving experience of this neat old Ford is still just as good as it was back in the eighties, and even by todays standards this is a nice capable cruiser which is right at home out on the open road where it excels with the smooth V6 coupled up to the automatic transmission.
Generally a very decent survivor that is still quite capable of turning heads at your local cars and coffee, and one that you would be quite proud to own.
