What an absolute old Darling this is.just released somewhat reluctantly from its last owner of 29 years!
This absolutely stunning original old XF GL was delivered new by Hawke Motors in Morrinsville on the 17/02/1988 so would have been one of the last XFs before the new EA models hit the showroom floor.
The XF was the last and arguably the best of the XD through XF series of Falcons, with popular styling and a lot of options as standard in the GL , such as power steering and cloth trim, all of which was big news in the 1980s!
This particular example has clearly enjoyed a very cherished existence throughout the decades to have survived in this condition, it actually appears that a lot of the paintwork is original, and being finished in Chambray Blue Metallic it looks fantastic. This absolute survivor has clearly always been undercover and seriously looked after as well, with no poor clear finish, bad fading or glaringly obvious past repairs.
The interior still presents as new too, and still retains the original big deal back in the day dealer fitted Clarion 450M stereo complete with its instruction manual!
These XFs drove beautifully in their original form, and this one is as close as you would ever get to driving a new one in 1988, in fact the entire car looks like its just driven out of 1988 and instantly takes you back to a simpler time when these big cars ruled our roads in comfort and style.
Immaculate in almost every respect you would go a long way to find a better one of these for sale anywhere today, this example is a good as it looks in the photos if not better, and is certainly one of the best we have ever seen, showing circa 220k kms, which is nothing for one of these cars, with most of them doing more than that in their first few years of service!
With a lot of these old 80s Falcons now long gone, heavily modified or in Street Stock Heaven, its refreshing to see and drive one that has been very lucky to survive and remain in really nice order.
Loaded up with dealer fitted accessories, the salesman would have no doubt got a good commission on this one! monsoon shield -mudflaps- headlamps shields -rear window louver pin stripes- a chrome tailpipe tip, and numberplate surrounds! She got the works!
Complete with all of its original owners manuals service booklets and period options booklets (which make for interesting reading) this would be the right one to tuck away for the futureStill a lovely car to drive even by todays standards almost 40 years on, you could happily drive her to any car show out of town on a decent roadie, and rightly so be very proud of your enjoyable and steadily increasing investment
